Capsule Geology

Most of the mineralization at the NW Extension zone is hosted by altered monzonite of the early Jurassic Black Lake Intrusive Suite.

In 2004, one day was spent mapping on the NW Extension zone as a follow up to the discovering of the mineralization in 2002. The zone is reported to be located 700 metres northwest of 2004 drill hole PN04-12, which tested the NW zone.

Mineralized float and subcrop in this vicinity had previously been sampled in 2003. It consists mainly of quartz plus/minus calcite plus/minus barite veins and breccias containing chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite and pyrite. Most of the mineralization is hosted by altered monzonite.

In 2003, a grab sample (RMR-PN-03-032) of trachyte porphyry to monzonite with quartz-barite veinlets containing galena, chalcopyrite and chalcocite assayed 2.0 grams per tonne silver, 0.090 per cent copper and 0.488 per cent lead (Assessment Report 27310).

See the NW prospect (094E 007) for related geological details and information on the PIL property work history.
